Special to the Journal Covington -- Mrs. Livengood of Covington Died on Monday forenoon mother of candidate for Judge of Appellate Court Funeral on Wednesday. Mrs. Elizabeth A. Livengood, one of the most respected and best known women in Fountain County, died at 6 o'clock this morning at the home of her son, Ora M. Livengood about 1 mile east of here. She had been ill from pneumonia for about a week, the attack following a severe cold. Mrs. Livengood was born near Grange Corner, in Parke County, on March 23, 1841 the daughter of Valentine Day & Catherine Hartmann Day and was married on Sept 16, 1858 to Solomon Livengood, Sr. The latter died April 18, 1919. She is survived by 3 sons and two daughters. Of the sons, Valentine E. Livengood is one of the most prominent citizens of Fountain County and is this fall candidate for judge of the appelate court on the Democratic ticket. Arista E. Livengood, another son, also lives in Covington while Oro M. lives near this city. Of the two daughters, surviving, Mrs. Melinda J. Booe is a resident of Crawfordsville, residing on W. Market St, while Mrs. Elbert McKee lives in Wallace. Mrs. Livengood lived all of her life in northern Parke and southern Fountain Counties and was noted for her great charitable nature. She was a devoted church member being connected with the Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday from the Lutheran church at Wallace. Rev. Kerr of the Methodist church here and the local Lutheran minister at Wallace will officiate. Interment will be at the Lutheran Cemetery at Wallace. - transcribed by kbz
